Mountaineering Updates

Competitors will encounter a rappel certification, top-roped cliffs of Box Canyon, and an awe-inspiring suspension traverse during Saturday afternoon’s Competitor Field. The routes range in difficulty from 5.6 to 5.9, with plenty of options to challenge teams of all abilities. This activity is timed, with incentives to take on a more difficult climb. We’ll provide a helmet and harness, but the climb will be completed in the gear you are wearing or chose to carry with you, which probably means trekking shoes or hiking boots. Here’s a map of indoor rock climbing gyms in the Bay Area for those that need some practice beforehand. A full list can be found here.

UPDATE: If you’re in the Bay Area, be sure to visit ClubSport Pleasanton. They not only have one of their own competing, their indoor rock wall provides excellent training for this event. And their Oregon location has the SuMMit High Altitude Training Lab to simulate training at 8,000 feet – the same elevation as the 2013 Endeavor Team Challenge:
